I started looking at Chinese Medicine because I didn’t know what I the future would hold for my daughter. I decided to move here.
When I came to Austin, I had lupus, a total hysterectomy, hot flashes, insomnia- waking every hour, night sweats, and I had lived in pain, so much pain. It was a deep bone pain that I couldn’t explain.
I had lived with it for so many years. I thought it was how I would live. I existed on ibuprofen and aspirin—I had actually given myself ulcers with all of the junk I was taking. I was a mess!
I started seeing Dr. Wang when I entered school.
I didn’t want to learn about herbs, only acupuncture; but, in order to be a certified practitioner, I had to learn about herbs.
I wanted to learn strictly acupuncture because it had helped my daughter; but, again, when I entered school, I had to study both. Dr. Wang began treating me. He was one of my professors. He started giving me herbal prescriptions and I took them faithfully. I kept taking them to just to see if they worked on me.
To make a long story short, I was driving home from school one night and it had been 3 months since I had been taking the herbs religiously.
I would go in to Dr. Wang periodically and he would adjust my herbal formulas, adding one thing and taking something else away depending upon my symptoms --which included poop and all that stuff. I hadn’t even thought about poop.
In Chinese Medicine, they ask how your bowel movements are among other things. So anyway, I was driving home and it dawned upon me that I had slept ALL night the last few nights. It was so subtle.
Then I started thinking--gosh, I slept all night. Then it really hit me -- I didn’t have any pain! I’m not waking up during the night in pain.
It’s so beautiful! It’s a beautiful medicine and I’m so thankful for it. It’s helped my daughter. It’s helped my son. It’s helped me! It’s so subtle.
In our culture, we are so quick that we have got to have a quick fix for everything. If we take it for a week and it doesn’t work, we say it doesn’t work and I’m not taking it anymore. But, herbs and Chinese medicine have actually brought my body back into balance.
Now, my diet is still horrible. I drive through, grab fast food, and eat all of the wrong things; but, I feel better.
The medical doctors wanted to put me on steroids; but, as a nurse, I knew what steroids would do to my body. I didn’t do that.
I never went the steroid route and now, I don’t need them. I still get occasional headaches; but, I don’t live with pain anymore. I keep going and comitt myself – giving it a good old fashion try. I tell you that I thank God for Dr. Wang in his knowledge. He is so awesome.
This medicine is a gradual thing. In the Student Clinic, as a practioner, people will come in and you ask how is your ---(whatever condition they were being seen for). They say, “oh, I never had that”. You refer to the chart and say, well 3 weeks ago, that was your chief complaint. Their response-“ Oh, I forgot I had that, well, it’s gone.” It’s such a beautiful medicine. It brings stuff back into balance.
I don’t have hot flashes! I don’t have night sweats! I don’t have insomnia now and I don’t have pain!!!!
I’m off of the thyroid medication that the medical doctors said I’d never get off of. The herbs have balanced my thyroid. Isn’t that great?
It’s so awesome!!!! That’s my testimony.
