I have always had bad allergies --- even as a very small child --- allergy shots, avoid certain foods, etc.

The year 2002 has been very challenging for me with constant sinus drainage, sore throat, headaches. “Finally, after about six months of regular treatments and herbs, I was off my routine inhalers for the first time in ten years – something I thought would never be possible”

In the winter of 1999, after years of deteriorating health due to asthma, I found myself in the emergency room of Brackenridge Hospital, struggling to breathe as I received steroid “breathing treatment” after steroid “breathing treatment.” It was not working. I wondered if I would ever enjoy again the most simple and essential pleasure of a good deep breath.

I wondered if I would suffocate that night on my own malfunctioning lungs. After three of these “breathing treatments” my pulse was racing at a rate that was dangerous for my heart, yet I still could not breathe. At this point, the emergency room doctor determined that I would have to be admitted to the hospital and given treatments every four hours until I could breathe again. This went on all night and the next day. Finally, after two horrible days and nights, I was able to draw a decent breath of air.

This is when the doctors working on my case came into my hospital room and told me that I’d have to take cortico-steroids for the rest of my life. This both disturbed and frightened me. I knew that steroids cause brittle bones among other negative side effects, and I didn’t believe that the drugs would be effective against my asthma for the rest of my life. After leaving the hospital, I talked with friends about my options, and soon enough a trusted friend convinced me to try acupuncture. I was both skeptical and scared – I’d always been terrified of needles – but I decided I had to give it a try.

That was the best decision I could have made. I went to acupuncture once a week at first, then every other week, drinking herbal teas every day. Finally, after about six months of regular treatments and herbs, I was off my routine inhalers for the first time in ten years – something I thought would never be possible. It’s now been over three years since I’ve needed regular medication. I still take herbs and receive acupuncture treatments a few times a year, but am almost free of symptoms. I hope one day to have my full health restored, and believe it will happen with the help of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

My name is Connie Cisneros and I discovered acupuncture and herbs 19 years ago when I was 27 years old.

Back then I had a class 4 papsmear and had a surgical cone to cure it. After the surgery my doctor called and said he had found a tenth of a millimeter of invasive carcinoma very close to the area he had taken out. He felt he had gotten it out.

And that all would be fine but the pathologist suggested complete surgery. Since I had not had children at the time I was devastated.

An old friend called and suggested I try acupuncture herb and diet. Thus I discovered acupuncture. Within 6 months of acupuncture 3 times a week herbs and diet I went to the doctor and had a perfectly normal pap test.

Years later I had my children. Wonderful pregnancies. My youngest child was born at home. And I discovered that acupuncture kept me healthy and feeling great.

I use acupuncture for anything even allergies and colds. I learned what it was to be and feel whole because I had not felt whole before. I recommend it to all my friends and it has worked wonders for them.

When my oldest child was two years old he had very bad ear infections he was constantly on antibiotics and they didn’t work anymore. His doctor recommended Tober. Later I discovered Tober caused other children to lose their hearing.

I decided that if western medicine was not working for him why not try eastern medicine. Why not treat my son this way I did myself. Within a week, he was well to his doctor’s amazement. He plays violin and has been playing since he was in second grade he is now a 9th grader.

Just to think that western doctors said that all those early ear infection were going to cause permanent hearing loss. He has perfect hearing.
